Every one is now complaining about the lack of sensitivity shown by our motor companies even as they face huge challenges. Every one seems to be in agreement on the need to change. My question is what are they meant to change?
Why should they even change? We are all so busy trying to figure out how we can buy an SUV, why should the auto company change what they sell to us. It is what I call a healthy dose of hypocrisy. The consumers are trying to lay the blame on the big three while everyone goes shopping for the gas guzzler.
If your budget includes extra gas prices and even home owner insurance, that extra fee for your SUV might not do very well for your pocket. In fact, it is the wrong medicine in this economic downturn. However, we still buy the most expensive stuff and still expect GM to change their way of doing business.
The only way these companies are going to change is when we start leaving our gas guzzlers home. As long as we continue buying them, nothing will make them change and that’s just the way it is.
