So far in my 3 week home business journey, I am getting to learn quite a lot about myself rather than my business. It makes me start wondering if owning your own home business is more about psycho-analysing yourself or actually running a profitable venture.

You would not believe the number of new office equipment I have had to start buying and learning. Who knew that a good phone line could make the difference between success and failure? I don’t mean the home phone number but it seems having a 1-800 number is actually a good idea. When I place both numbers on my site, no one called the home office number. Maybe it’s the idea of free things that attracts people to 1-800 numbers.

I now have enough stationary, pins, sticky notes and pens to start my own staples shop. I was even about to start buying barcode scanners. Its just that my wife removed it from the list. The thing is no one told me I needed these stuff. Everyone who talks about a home business talks only about the money you will make. No one wants to talk about the expenses you will have to incur before you start your business.

Do not fall in my trap. Think very hard before quitting your day job and when you do, make sure you already had bought those sticky notes otherwise you will have to buy them with your own penny. That may be the best way to make your home business successful.

  1. One of the most efficient work at home marketing methods for free is article writing. By writing articles you have the ability to spread your knowledge and expertise in the theme you want to promote. You can also promote various products you will be selling or your business as a whole. The best thing about article writing is the resource box.
