I am not a health freak but my recent shopping trip got me concerned about healthy shopping.
Shopping for a healthy diet can be difficult if you do not know how to do so, but with these tips, you should find it easier to do so the next time you head to the grocery store.
Now I know why I am gaining weight so fast. The isles are filled with foods I should not be eating. It’s even worse when shopping with the kids. All the go for are bright coloured items. You know that is not a recipe for healthy shopping.
So I got myself a short list to ensure that I stick to healthy shopping habits
- Leave the kids at home – Ok this will not work but its a beginning. The alternative is to read the riot act before leaving the house. Good luck…I have failed miserably with this idea.
- Plan your shopping – It seems binge shopping will soon be called a disease. That is when I start picking things I really don’t need. However, a well planned list can really help. This may also be a great time to get the kids involved.
- Pick the shopping basket. – Have you noticed that supermarkets hide the small basket. You would be forgiven that they sell industrial hand wheels…You are always tempted to fill up that shopping cart.
- Read the labels – Seriously. You should read that food label especially drinks. those drinks are packed with calories you don’t need.
The basic idea in healthy shopping is to ensure that you only get the food that you need. You will realize that healthy shopping is not only safe, it is cheaper.
