You would think that at my age, I would not be moved by the passing this last month of Michael Jackson or Farah Fawcett, but I even surprised myself. It so happens that at my age, it is the time when people I know are becoming a rare breed. It is easy to fall into depression when all you hear is all negativity so one has to find ways to cope with it.
Luckily I can say that I am not depressed but I know some of my friends who are depressed. Depression can seriously impair your life. It can make the most mundane tasks such as eating breakfast seem extremely difficult. That is why I make an effort to deal with sorrow or depression before it can become serious.
One of the easiest ways to deal with sorrow and depression management is to stay active. By being active, you will keep your mind on the task at hand and not excessively think of the sad things that may be affecting you.
Even when I am going on cruises, I make an effort to do something not just sit around. You will be surprised at how easy it is to be depressed with all the alcohol on board and nothing to do when floating on water. That is why you will find me in the pool or engaging in physical activities.
The idea here is to start on the process of avoiding inaction which can make you miserable in the long run.
